Groomer/Owner: Melissa Nichols
Melissa started her grooming career in June 1996 at West Paw School of Dog Grooming in Riverside, California. After completion, she started her journey as a mobile groomer for 2 years while going to college. In May of 1999, she moved to Alabama and worked at Polly's Pet Parlor and continued to mentor under the very talented Erika Swanson. In 2007 Erika moved to Texas and Melissa purchased Polly's Pet Parlor. In February 2014 she opened Doggone Pet Spa in Springville, AL.
Grooming is an opportunity to be creative. Dogs come to me dirty, tangled and barely able to see me through all the hair on their Face! I get to make them pretty and feel better all at the same time, which is very rewarding.. sometimes I even get doggie kisses :)

In A couple months i will have been grooming dogs for 20 years. When i went to grooming school i really had never imagined that i would be where i am today. Grooming dogs is more than anyone can really imagine.. It's reading people's mind when they are trying to tell you what they want done, it's reading dogs so that i know how to handle them properly, it's understanding coat texture and skin issues. I have a shampoo for everything (Ask my family who had to move me! lol) so much of my life is involved in it. Grooming is a skill and a talent. If you don't think so id like to see you hand scissor a puppy with a pair of 10" scissors!! I love grooming and i love owning a business in a small town. I'm blessed with so many wonderful customers. I take great pride in my work. I am a quiet, calm person and i feel most dogs are very comfortable with me. I'm always happy to answer questions or help you any way i can.
